Slavna was a teenage make-up artist and stylist, working in the fashion and film industries from the late 1990s through the mid-2000s.

In 1997, after her studies at the London College of Fashion, she moved back to Hong Kong, where she started her career as a fashion stylist and make-up artist for shows and fashion magazines.

Her interest in fusing the two led her to relocate to Los Angeles to study prosthetic and special-effects make-up at the famed Joe Blasco School. She continued working in both fields, represented by Visage Agency in Hollywood, designing make-up for films and music videos and collaborating with celebrities including Chloë Sevigny, Alexis Arquette, Famke Janssen, Jorja Fox, Ryan Hurst, Dougray Scott, Daniela Amavia, and Tori Spelling, as well as musicians including Pink, Aerosmith, A Perfect Circle, Deadsy, Orgy, and Travis, to name a few.

In 2001, she was nominated for Best Make-Up Design in a Music Video at the MVPA Awards in Los Angeles for the music video Fiction by Orgy, directed by Nick Mathieu. She also did make-up for the debut Imitation of Christ show at the Santa Monica and Vermont station and for Rick Owens’ 2001 show at Les Deux Café.

Her styling and make-up work has been featured in magazines including Harper’s Bazaar Hong Kong, Flaunt, Contents, Cosmopolitan Hong Kong, Us Weekly, Marie Claire Hong Kong, Soma, W, and Post Magazine. She styled artists for events and shows including the Billboard Music Awards, MTV Icon, Latin Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and the US Platinum Guild in the US, as well as Piaget and Cartier’s 150th Anniversary show in Hong Kong.
